Turning south onto Utah 24 from I-70 toward Escalante.
The San Rafeal Swell is on our right. Interesting strata.
In addition to the interesting strata changes, note the almost identical structure in the two outcroppings.

It seems lonely all by itself out there.
It's hard to tell, but the ridge is red and the lower is gray. It'll be a lot more obvious when you see it in person.
Coming over a ridge, the view changes.
Turning onto a dirt road to take a back way to Escalante.
The road heads into some spectacularrrrr country.
You can see the turnoff from the road we were on at the top. This is a set of switchbacks going up into the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.
The rock is all wrinkly from being in the sun too long. Please use sun screen!
