We got to Fruita late in the afternoon, but we had to do a ride before setting up camp.
So, we decided to ride Joe's Ridge.
Ruth making the first climb up to Joe's Ridge.
Always let the ladies go first.
Making our way out to the ridgulent part of Joe's Ridge.
Ruth is still in the lead.
Steep and narrow! Yeah!
Yeah, that's Ruth way the hell down there...
...waitin' for us slow folk.
After Joe's Ridge is Kessel Run.
It's fast! It's woop de do! It's only three parsecs!
With all that behind us we head back to camp.
A strange hush fills the air. A dog howls. A snake hisses. Tom farts. The flame changes to the semblance of a bunny. Four out of five of these are good sings that riding will be good tomorrow.
The hush is gone. The crickets return to playing the sunset blues. The sky returns to normal.
It's a lovely day. Time for coffee, breakfast and a ride.
Heading up to Chutes and Ladders.
Ruth attempts the climb of Death...
...but doesn't quite make it.
Fortunately it's all down hill from here. (Literally, not figuratively.)
Ruth is determined to make this climb.
And she does!
Heading across the open plains, a Bunny can reach tremendous speeds!
And disappear in an instant.
Thank goodness for the zoom lens.
And good tires.
Another climb. Will she make it?
It's steep. It's rocky. It's a seat in the ass, bar end gripping, teeth grinding smiler. Alas, I missed the shot as she rounded the corner at the top.
Just scenery.
What ho?
Ruth takes a spill. You can see where she took a bite out of the rock from the teeth marks.
Right near the center of the picture, just above the two riders together, yo can see the climb to Chutes and Ladders we did earlier in the day.
Now we're heading to Zippity Do Da.
We just cam up fromwhere the road and trail meet below. Joe's Ridge is somewhere back there.
Yo! Heeeeeeeere's Bunny!
Zippity Do Da follows the ridge, pretty much at least.
Of course the "ridge" drops down a little on occasion.
The previous pic was taken from the top of the hill in the distance. Apparently this IS Ruth's sport.
More ridge to go before heading back to the road.
Strange that I didn't take any more pics on the way down. But that's the ridge we just rode.
If you look really close you can just see two riders on top of the ridge.
You can just make them out.
A final pic of Joe's Ridge in the distance before we hit the road.
